United target Harry Kane given a clear warning ahead of transfer window

According to former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov, Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane faces the risk of damaging his stellar record at the club if he moves to Old Trafford.

Kane’s current situation is acknowledged by Berbatov, who during his playing career famously transferred from Tottenham to United on the final day of the transfer window.

However, the Bulgarian has warned the Englishman about the potential consequences of leaving North London this summer.

As reported by the Mirror, he said:

“I can understand and can relate to his situation. I feel for him, but at the same time, I think he is going to stay at Spurs. His legacy now is so great that he cannot force himself to tarnish it.”

“So it is down to him to know what is important for him – [for] his legacy with Spurs, which is unbelievable now. As for personal records, it is important also to win something before he is finished playing football. It is up to him to decide.”

Kane is United’s top choice in their search for a new striker, and the Red Devils are rumoured to have taken the first steps to sign him.

The 29-year-old will be honoured with a statue in recognition of his achievement in becoming Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer back in February.

Despite his goal-scoring prowess, Harry Kane has yet to win a major prize and must join an even bigger club in order to do so.

Kane is also certain to lose out on playing in the Champions League next year due to Tottenham’s nine-point deficit to the top four with only two games remaining.

United will be eager to lock up their position in the upcoming season of Europe’s top club competition in order to increase their chances of signing major targets like Kane.

Erik Ten Hag’s team is fourth in the Premier League rankings, one point ahead of Liverpool with a game left to play.
