Manchester United target Jordan Pickford is expected to agree to a new deal with Everton as his current one is slated to expire in 2024.
The Mirror reports that Pickford will soon sign a new contract with the Toffees. The two parties are still in the process of negotiating, but a deal looks close.
The English goalkeeper joined the club for $30 million from Sunderland in 2017. Since then, he has made 222 appearances for the club in various leagues and has been one of their most crucial players.
Pickford’s future has been the subject of rumours as a result of the Toffees’ Premier League struggles, with United and Tottenham Hotspur appearing as possible future clubs.
Pickford was being considered by the Red Devils as a potential David de Gea replacement, while Spurs were interested in signing him as a long-term replacement for captain Hugo Lloris. The summer transfer window is quickly approaching and this might compel them to consider other choices.
The success of Everton in the Premier League will also determine Pickford’s future at Goodison Park. The Merseyside team is presently 16th in the league standings with 21 points, just one point above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, United are also keeping tabs on other goalkeepers in the market as they want a good backup option for their current No.1 keeper.
