United target Marco Asensio wants to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu for 10 more years

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio wants to stay at Santiago Bernabeu for many more years and he will be ready to pen a new deal.

The Manchester United target was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer. However, Carlo Ancelotti decided to keep him as a deal never materialized between the two clubs.

Asensio has been in and out of Galactico’s starting XI. However, he has played well whenever given the chance to impress.

The 26-year-old scored a goal for Spain in their first Works Cup group match against Costa Rice. Enrique’s side won by a 7-0 margin wherein the Real Madrid attacker was given the role play as a striker.

This season, Ancelotti has given a decent amount of chances to Asensio but the forward’s future still remains in his own hands. His agent Jorge Mendes tried to engineer a move away last summer. But, it looks like the Spaniard wants to stay in Madrid for more than 10 years. Los Blancos are expected to start discussions with the player regarding a new contract.

Asensio’s versatility is his strongest skill as he can play as a winger, a striker or a midfielder. Erik ten Hag wants to sign such flexible players and the 26-year-old’s ability to dominate possession and play crunch passes will help the team in the second half of the season.

It remains to be seen whether the Spanish star decides to leave the club or sign a new contract as soon as possible.
