Manchester United FC have been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly since the last couple of summer transfer windows to bolster their defensive department. The Red Devils have had several bids rejected by Napoli for their centre-back but might just have another chance to get the Senegalese. It is now being reported that Napoli are ready to begin a bidding war between Manchester United and Manchester City.
Koulibaly is arguably one of the best defenders in the world and is no short of suitors. The Red Devils surely want to bolster their centre-back situation but have Jadon Sancho as their priority. On the other hand, Manchester City have prioritized a move for Koulibaly and have reportedly tabled a bid for the Senegalese defender as well.
Napoli were demanding about £90m for Koulibaly and didn’t need to sell him, but now after signing Victor Osimhen, Napoli need to make money. With their need to sell players, Koulibaly’s valuation has reportedly dropped to about £70m. United might be tempted to get into a bidding war with their noisy neighbours for Koulibaly but only if they generate funds.
It is unlikely for the Red Devils to secure the services of Koulibaly but if they generate enough funds, United might try to sign the Senegalese.
