Trippier has been in great shape for Athletico Madrid. The 30-year-old will have his contract running till one year after which there have been no reports of whether the player or the team wants to extend the stay.

His transfer to Athletico Madrid for just £20 million was quite a good bargain for the Spanish side. Trippier has been in great form since then. He has shown his attacking and even defending skills very cleanly. He has been a revelation for Athletico Madrid defence along with centre back Renan Lodi.
According to reports, United will be willing to rope in the England international as a strong competition for Aaron Wan Bissaka. Also providing depth in defense and providing some quality attacking crosses and passes that Wan Bissaka has shown little.

Solksjaer has signed Alex Telles for the same reason that is – His ability to take accurate set-pieces. Trippier can provide that much-needed strength for United.
