United will not allow Dean Henderson to play against them in the Carabao Cup semifinal clash

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United would not allow Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson to play against them in the Carabao Cup semifinals.

Forest defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers thanks to Henderson’s two saves in the thrilling penalty shootout. The 26-year-old has a contract with United through 2025 and is on loan at Forest for the current campaign. Although Forest have the option to ask United if Henderson can play, the competition’s regulations prohibit a loan player from competing against his parent club.

Forest manager Steve Cooper is unhappy with the restrictions that prevent Henderson from participating in the two-legged semi-final matches. Veteran goalie Wayne Hennessey is expected to fill in for Henderson. The 35-year-old didn’t have a good day at the office in his last game against United.

Erik ten Hag’s men are just three games away from winning their first silverware of the season. The winner of this round will play either Southampton or Newcastle United in the finals.

A win will further solidify their place in the league table as they continue to hunt for Champions League football next season.
