United’s possible opponents in Champions League group stages

With the Champions League group stage draw scheduled to take place next week, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have one eye on who United may be drawn against.

Pot one of the draw – generally having the high-level teams – contains the Champions League holders, Europa League holders, and the winners of the main six-European Leagues: Spain, England, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal.

Man United will along these lines be drawn against one of the accompanying favourites: Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, LOSC Lille, Sporting C.P, or Villarreal CF.

Sides from a similar nation can’t be drawn against one another at this stage, precluding the chance of United confronting Manchester City or Chelsea. 26 teams are now guaranteed of their places in the competition, with six up in the air dependent on the third passing round.

The Red Devils will be hoping to improve from their last season’s tragic performance in Europe. They needed to get just one point from the last two games against Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig, but still United lost both and was knocked out from the group staged.

The 3-2 defeat against Leipzig is one that actually haunts most of the fans considering the fact that we won the first group stage game against them by a 5-0 scoreline.

Nonetheless, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be favourites to pass through the group stage this time, as other strong clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, and PSG will be absent from pot one. The United team is loaded up with top-class players this season and, on their day, can beat any club on the planet.

For travelling fans, the possibility of visiting Lisbon, Munich, or Lille would be interesting. Additionally, United has never played at Atletico’s new arena.

It would for sure be an incredible encounter watching the Red Devils take the field at the Wanda Metropolitano.
