Victor Lindelof speaks on his future at the club and on Jadon Sancho situation

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has talked about his future at the club in response to questions about Jadon Sancho.

Lindelof, who has faced challenges in securing regular playing time at United, affirmed his commitment to the Premier League side, expressing his love for playing for them.

He also stated that leaving the club was not a consideration during the recent summer transfer window.

Additionally, Lindelof discussed the recent controversy surrounding Sancho, the 23-year-old winger who has faced criticism, particularly after Erik ten Hag revealed that his training performances had been disappointing.

As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, he said:

I love Manchester Utd and I still have a contract. So I can say that my exit this summer wasn’t close at all. Sancho? Many things are written about United and it will always be like that. We are a united group. I don’t think about it.”

Sancho’s relationship with the manager appears strained, and he refuted Ten Hag’s statements in an official statement.

Rumours have circulated about dissatisfaction among his teammates as well. However, Lindelof admitted that despite what the media reports, the players remain a united group.

With Raphael Varane currently unavailable, Lindelof is eager to secure more playing time at United in the upcoming weeks, although it’s uncertain if the club will provide him with that opportunity.

The 29-year-old could prove to be a valuable defender for the Red Devils this season. The team currently relies on Varane and Lisandro Martinez as their main defenders.

However, in order to compete effectively across various competitions, the Red Devils will require additional depth and quality. Relying solely on two defenders throughout an entire season is not a sustainable approach.

It’s reasonable to expect that Ten Hag will need to rotate his squad soon, giving Lindelof a chance to step in. To secure a regular spot in the starting lineup, the Swedish international will need to make an immediate impact.

Lindelof was highly regarded during his tenure at Benfica, but his move to United hasn’t gone as planned. He has faced inconsistency in his role since joining Old Trafford, and it remains to be seen if he can convince the manager of his quality in the upcoming weeks.

As for Sancho, Man United made a significant investment in him, and they are hopeful he can swiftly regain his top form.

The English international was considered a world-class talent during his time at Borussia Dortmund, and there’s no doubt that he could become a crucial player for the club again if he can return to his best form.
