Watford vs Manchester United: Player Ratings

Manchester United was easily ripped apart by Watford yesterday at Vicarage Road, as they grabbed all three points away from home.

The hosts played with United’s defense, with goals from Joshua King, Ismaila Sarr, Joao Pedro, and Emmanuel Bonaventure securing an easy 4-1 victory for the Hornets.

Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player performed in this crucial match.

David de Gea: 6

Early in the game, the Spaniard saved a penalty (and its retake) but went on to concede four goals over the next ninety minutes.

Luke Shaw: 4

In terms of defense, the Englishman was useless. In terms of attacking, he had no idea how to link up with Rashford down the left-wing. Overall, a shambolic performance.

Harry Maguire: 2

When your own captain is playing against you, who needs a good opponent? I can’t recall the last time Maguire got through a game without making a single blunder.

Victor Lindelof: 3

When under pressure, the Sweden international had no notion what to do with the ball.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 4

The English full-back was not at his best tonight, as Watford’s forwards were able to easily penetrate down the right flank.

Scott McTominay: 4

In the first half, the Scottish international was issued a yellow card. Donny van de Beek eventually took his place.

Nemanja Matic: 3

Tonight, the Serbian midfielder was far too lethargic in the middle of the park. He fumbled the ball multiple times, even while he wasn’t under any actual pressure.

Jadon Sancho: 4

In the second half, the former Dortmund winger generated a couple of fantastic chances, but he needs to be a little more patient when in possession of the ball.

Marcus Rashford: 4

Rashford had some terrific runs down the left flank, but he had no one to help.

Bruno Fernandes: 3

Fernandes had a strange start to the match, and it’s fair to say it stayed that way until the very end.

Cristiano Ronaldo: 5

In the second half of the game, the Portuguese striker struggled to live up to his typical standards, missing a number of chances.

After coming on, the Frenchman didn’t make any significant contributions.
