Watford Vs Manchester United Player Ratings

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United was handed a 2-0 defeat against bottom of the table club Watford on Sunday and this is how the Red Devils’ fared:

David de Gea -2

The Spanish goalkeeper had a nightmare between the posts as his error allowed the Hornets an advantage.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka-4

A fairly average performance from the English right back in the first-half until he finally cracked with a sliding tackle that gifted the home team a penalty in the second period.

Harry Maguire -4

The world’s most expensive defender needed to step up his game big time when United need some creative spark in the center of the pitch.

Victor Lindelof- 4

Occasionally looked uncomfortable in the heart of Manchester United’s defense against the physical Troy Deeney and the speed of Watford when the home team was on the counter-attack.

Luke Shaw- 3

The English left-back had to be told to push further up again and was booked again. Still looks a long way short of what a modern full-back should look like for a Manchester United starter.

Scott McTominay- 3

United boss urged his Scottish midfielder to calm down his passing and for the second week running McTominay’s limitations against the weaker teams was exposed and he was substituted in the second half.

Fred- 3

Put in a lot of effort in the center of the park but not too much effect. Failed to unlock the Watford defense with any of his passing and was rather ineffective on the ball.

Daniel James- 3

The Welsh midfielder provided an early cross for his French forward Anthony Martial but was nearly anonymous after that brief moment.

Jesse Lingard- 2

Missed a  great one-on-one opportunity at 0-0 when he casually opted for the dink and his lackluster drive in attack epitomized the complacency of this United side.

Marcus Rashford- 4

Never got the better of his opponent, the 33-year-old Adrian Mariappa. Another one of those days where the regular striker showed signs of a rookie’s performance

Anthony Martial- 4

The French attacker fashioned openings in the drudgery of the first-half but was often too isolated as the main forward and faded into anonymity after Watford’s opening goal.
