Daniel James seems very likely to take the exit door at Old Trafford in the ongoing January transfer window, reports from the Daily Star suggest, with West Brom leading the race to sign the attacker on a short-term loan.
The Welsh international’s first-team involvement at Manchester United this season has been limited and has been linked with a switch to other top-flight clubs across the country since last summer.
But a move to Leeds United in July failed to materialise for the former Swansea City man and despite Marcelo Bielsa’s side retaining their interest in making a move for the Welshman, Sam Allardyce’s West Brom seems the favourites to sign James this January.
The Baggies find themselves in a tough battle to avoid the drop to the Championship next season, with Allardyce’s appointment to the top job paving the way for the ex-England national team boss to make some big moves in the transfer market to help his new side stay clear of the relegation zone.
James’ exit in a loan deal running until the end of the 2020-21 season is understood to be desirable on Manchester United’s behest as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer enjoys a number of first-team attacking options at his disposal.
