Manchester United FC manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been told to sell the deadwood in the club to generate funds. The pandemic has caused a lot of problems, even in a club with the stature of Manchester United. The board looks to sell players, not in Solskjaer’s plans, and West Ham are interested in buying Lingard and Phil Jones.
David Moyes was the manager of Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson left and has worked with both Jones and Lingard. He now is in charge at West Ham and wants to bring the duo to London to bolster his side’s performances. Solskjaer has been disappointed by both the players and wants to see them move on from the Red Devils.
Lingard was once a highly-rated tenacious attacking midfielder, who could dribble well and score important goals. His goals and trickery came good for Mourinho when Manchester United finished second in the Premier League. But since then, there has been a huge dip in standard and Lingard has never been the same again.
Since the beginning of last season, Lingard has only scored twice in the Premier League. He hasn’t scored at all this season while having 20 appearances under his belt for United this season. Lingard has massively disappointed Solskjaer, even after getting loads of chances and might be on his way out.
The same can also be said about Phil Jones’s career at Manchester United since he was brought by Sir Alex himself. Sir Alex signed Phil Jones to replace the likes of ageing Ferdinand and Vidic, but Jones’s career has been poor. Ferguson also once said that Jones could be one of United’s greatest players, but that didn’t age very well.
The English defender has never reached the heights he was supposed to reach at Old Trafford and has rather been an epitome of disappointment. Phil Jones’s appearances for United come with a guarantee of new memes and comic errors rather than solid performances.
Solskjaer has been instructed to sell players to fund transfers and West Ham’s interest will be music to Solskjaer’s ears. He has been looking to sell Lingard and Jones, and Moyes is keen to get them on board at West Ham. It is touted that this season might be the end of the road for Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard at Manchester United.
