As reported by the Manchester Evening News, West Ham United is set to place a new bid for United fullback Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Hammers want to sign the former Crystal Palace defender during the upcoming transfer window. Wan-Bissaka apparently has a £22 million price tag on his head, although United are reportedly open to offers.
United would recover about half of the rumoured £50 million they reportedly spent on Crystal Palace for the player in 2019. Wan-Bissaka has made 139 appearances for the team, although since his arrival, his development has largely stopped. There is no denying the right-back’s defensive prowess, as he continues to rank among the league’s top one-on-one defenders.
However, in recent years, his focus and ball skills have come under scrutiny far too frequently, costing him a spot in Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup.
Wan-Bissaka is understandably unhappy about the fact that Dalot has taken over the right-back position at the team. He made his first appearance of the season in late December, missing all of United’s pre-World Cup action.
Premier League clubs expressed interest in the Englishman during the January transfer window, but due to Dalot’s post-World Cup injury, United chose to keep him at Old Trafford.
Wan-Bissaka has done admirably during his most recent stint in the lineup, but Dalot is now expected to return to the bench given that he is fully fit. Therefore, United are ready to sell the defender this summer, as only 18 months are left on his contract.
