West Ham United have revived their interest in signing playmaker Jesse Lingard from Manchester United before Tuesday’s deadline day.
Reports from The Daily Star back David Moyes’ side to make a move for Lingard who had spent the 2020-21 campaign with The Hammers to much success on the attacking front as the England international scored nine goals and registered four assists while gaining regular first-team football.
Manchester United had earlier been unwilling to part ways with Lingard in this summer’s transfer window for a fee less than £25 million but reports suggest that the recent signing of Cristiano Ronaldo has a lot to do with Jesse Lingard’s future at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo’s imminent arrival at his former side ahead of deadline day has given West Ham United a much-needed boost in their pursuit of signing Lingard in a cut-price deal by tabling an offer worth £15 million.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer is not bereft of attacking options within his ranks with the likes of Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood notable names to provide cover for the central striking role.
