Manchester United FC are currently on a 19-game unbeaten streak and will look to take those numbers as high as possible. The Red Devils will face Chelsea tomorrow in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, which is one of their chances to win silverware. The other realistic chance is the Europa League, where the Mancunians look favourites to lift the trophy.
United are one of the only sides in the top-five leagues to have not lost a game since the restart. In fact, they have been so good that they have accumulated the most points in the Premier League since football started in June. The attack has been on fire with Martial and Rashford each scoring 22 goals each in all competitions this season.
The Red Devils have done very well in the Europa League and are considered to be the best team in the competition. United play their next match in the Europa League on 5th of August against LASK in the second leg of the tie. The first leg of this Round of 16 tie ended with a score-line of 5-0, in favour of the Red Devils.
By the time United play the Europa League games, the Premier League and FA Cup will be over. This means that teams will only be concentrating on their Europa League campaign, without stressing on other games. United are almost through to the quarter-finals of the competition, as it would be highly unlikely for LASK to score six goals without response.
The quarter-finals for the Red Devils will be against Istanbul Başakşehir or Copenhagen, which are both minnows when compared to United. Either of the sides will have to do something miraculous to win against the likes of Manchester United. Thus, you would place all your bets on Manchester United on winning the quarter-finals with ease as well.
In the semi-finals is where it will start getting trickier for the Red Devils as they might come up against any of Sevilla, AS Roma or Wolves. Any of these three might come up to the semi-finals and all have the potential to cause an upset against United. The Red Devils have played with Wolves four times this season and know the threat they carry with Jimenez and Traore.
AS Roma started the season very well but have faded away since then and are currently placed 4th in the Serie-A table. Their defence has let them down many times and United will look to that if the Red Devils face the Romans. On the other hand, Sevilla are also a force to reckon with, as the Spanish club finished fourth behind Atletico Madrid.
Sevilla finished the season strong and had the same number of wins as Atletico Madrid. Their recruit Lucas Ocampos has been on fire as he finished with 14 goals in La Liga. United will need to be wary about Sevilla’s attack and especially Ocampos, because of his form in front of goal, if they lock horns in the semi-finals.
Again, looking at the form of all the four teams, and the Red Devils will be favourites to play in the final. From the other side of the table, Inter Milan are the favourites to reach the finals and have an easier run-in. The final, if United reach it, will be their toughest and most important game of the season.
The Red Devils will need to work hard against Inter to get the goals, as Conte has a strict defensive system. The United midfield will need to be at their best as Inter Milan play a five-man midfield. But, taking all factors into considerations, Manchester United are the favourites to win the Europa League.
The Europa League will not just add silverware to the decorated United cabinet but will be their first in a couple of years. A win the Europa League final will also mean direct qualification into the Champions League next season. With two games left in the Premier League United still have a chance to finish in the top-four places.
