Manchester United FC currently it at the fifth position in the Premier League table, with only three games to go. The Red Devils faced Southampton yesterday, as Leicester and Chelsea had dropped points earlier this week. This also meant that a win against the Saints would’ve taken United to third place, but United drew with Southampton.
With Leicester City, Chelsea and United all dropping points, the Red Devils may have lost a golden opportunity after drawing with Southampton. Currently, the Red Devils are level on points with fourth-placed Leicester City and only one point behind third-placed Chelsea. The Premier League will surely see a blockbuster end for the battle of the top four positions, with Manchester City’s ban overruled.
Chelsea have been shaky defensively and haven’t dealt well with teams coming at them and attacking their box. With Kante and Gilmour out due to injury, it is now up to Jorginho to play as the defensive midfielder. In their last three fixtures in the Premier League, the blues of Chelsea face Norwich, Liverpool and Wolves respectively.
Norwich are already relegated and will be a team without confidence as they head back to the Championship. Chelsea will be expected to win this game with ease as their attacking force will be too much for Norwich to handle. But their next two fixtures will be very difficult with Liverpool and Wolves.
Liverpool have been relatively poor since winning the league and have dropped off drastically, losing points home and away. Their dream of reaching 100 points is in danger as the Reds now have 93 points with three games to go. Klopp’s men will come out all guns blazing against Chelsea, which will be difficult for Lampard’s men to handle.
Wolves are also fighting their way for a Europa League spot and will be a tricky side to face. This might end up in a draw rather than any side taking all the three points.
Leicester are level on points with United and face Sheffield United, Tottenham and Manchester United in their last three matches. Leicester have been poor since the restart and have dropped points continuously as they have three difficult fixtures at the end of the season. Sheffield United are in good form and have won against Chelsea lately, and will be brimming with confidence.
Sheffield United will be favourites to win against an ailing Leicester City side and take all the three points. Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham will be next for the Foxes and taking in current form, we expect Leicester to pull off a victory. Tottenham have played lethargic football lately, and have failed to score goals, thus Foxes might capitalize against the Spurs.
Manchester United face West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Leicester City in their last three fixtures in the Premier League. The Red Devils drew against Southampton earlier today but will be favourites to win easily against the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace. The top-four battle might be decided on the last match-day when United play Leicester.
The highly-anticipated fixture is expected to decide the future of three teams, United, Leicester and Chelsea. The Red Devils vs the Foxes might end up in a draw, as both the sides will be keen not to lose points. Considering all the fixtures, United remain the favourites to end up in the third position in the Premier League table.
On the final match-day of the season, United, Chelsea and Leicester will know if they’ll be playing Champions League football next season or not.
