You can play a technical striker on the front, a powerful shooter in the midfield and a player to cross through the flanks but if you want to score goals, you need a midfielder capable of creating chances with his passes and being at the right position at the right time.
United do have one in the form of Juan Mata only to have him sitting on the bench. Why is he not being played? Why is kept out even after his perfect left-footer in the opening minutes of the game he was given a start? Why is Mourinho not realizing his mistakes?
A player like Juan Mata, even if he doesn’t play on the field but from the character, point-of-view can bring a wave of positivity in the team, which United are deeply in need of. But he surely needs opportunities to bring that positivity into the field and turn the fortunes.
The energy that has been missing in the Red Devils will be back with a change in their starting XI. On the stroke of being sacked, Mourinho may give a shot to Spaniard.
Maybe, Mata would have lost the striking ability with his age but he surely is a wine becoming good with age. He surely has improvised himself getting his game brain in the field. For all Mata’s wonderful work, he has not been rewarded yet.
When he is at his best, he is difficult to be controlled by the opposition. Needless to say that Mata should be given chances as much as Sanchez and Lukaku. Maybe, he can turn the tables for United.
