Wolves put £90m price tag on United target Raul Jimenez

Manchester United FC have reportedly been in the look-out of a striker, even after the extension of Odion Ighalo. United have been long-time admirers of Raul Jimenez and the striker is flattered by the interest from the Red Devils. Jimenez is one of the best strikers in the league and thus Wolves have put a £90m price tag on their talisman.

Manchester United have lately been scoring lots of goals but at the beginning of the season, they struggled badly. Their decision to let go of Lukaku without getting a replacement was under severe scrutiny. As United struggled to get goals, the Red Devils got Ighalo in the January transfer window, in what was labelled as a panic buy.

From then onwards United have been anything but free-scoring, and have been on a 13-match unbeaten streak. Both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have scored 19 goals each this season. But it is reported that Solskjaer still wants to add to his attacking forces at Manchester United.

Raul Jimenez is one of the highest scorers in the Premier League this season with 15 goals. Jimenez has scored a total of 24 goals in just 46 games this season for a mediocre Wolves side. His goals have been the main reason for Wolves sitting on sixth place, equal in points with United in the league.

Jimenez has flourished for the Wolves and the 29-year old Mexican has rejuvenated his career. Earlier in his career, he had flopped at Atletico Madrid and Benfica, but Wolves kept faith in the striker and he has repaid them very well. Wolves will like to keep the striker, but as bigger clubs show interest, Wolves have stamped a £90m price tag on Jimenez.

Looking at the current scoring spree of Rashford and Martial, and the pandemic situation United will think twice about getting Jimenez. Juventus are also believed to be impressed by the striker and want to secure his services. But, even Juventus are wary to pay such a metronomic amount for the Wolves striker.

Manchester United will be in the market for a striker, as Ighalo’s loan deal runs out in January 2021. They will look for a better option than Jimenez as he doesn’t belong to the age-bracket of players Ole wants. United might look for a better alternative like Ben Yedder who is also 29 years old but will come much cheaper than Jimenez.
