According to the latest reports, Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is still keen on bringing Manchester United’s midfield ace Paul Pogba to the Santiago Bernabeu in the January transfer window.
Pogba joined the Red Devils for a then-world record fee of £89.3m from Serie A giants Juventus back in 2015 and the Frenchman has made his desire for a ‘new challenge’ known before the start of the ongoing season and is yet to renew his contract with the 20-time Premier League Champions.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it abundantly clear that he fully expects Pogba to remain at Old Trafford to continue playing his football at Manchester United but reports from Spain and elsewhere which are linking him to a move with Real Madrid never seem to end.
The Manchester United transfer board has made it quite clear that they are reluctant to part ways with the 26-year-old Pogba, another major stumbling block preventing a potential deal is a fact that Los Blancos’ board isn’t convinced by the Frenchman due to his hefty price tag. Real Madrid has stated that the World Cup winner is a ‘great’ player but aren’t willing to pay the estimated fee of over €120m for his services at the Spanish capital. To further add jeopardy to the deal, Pogba is demanding a salary of €16m a year, which is another potential hurdle for both parties.
But French manager Zinedine Zidane wants to bring Pogba to Madrid in order to bolster his squad.
Pogba has been flirting with a move to work with Zidane and it seems like the player has no intention of playing with Manchester United anymore. Pogba played a vital role for Manchester United last season as he was the club’s top scorer but an ankle injury has kept him out of the game for a lengthy period of time this season.
