Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has expressed his support for the Glazer family in an exclusive interview with Piers Morgan.
During his time at the club, Ibrahimovic was a success, scoring 29 goals and contributing 10 assists in 53 appearances.
While he is still highly regarded by many United fans, his recent interview on the ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored show could potentially change their perception of him.
In a recent interview, the retired striker doesn’t support the ongoing fan protests against the Glazer family, given their current investments in the team.

He noted that the Glazers have been signing numerous players for huge sums of money and believes it’s unfair to suggest that they are not meeting the fans’ expectations in terms of team improvement.
As quoted by the Manchester Evening News, Ibrahimovic said:
“I think now in Manchester United, I don’t know, there are some kind of demonstrations about the owners to sell it and that, but just a reminder, the owners are investing.”
“It is not like they are not investing because they brought in many players for a high amount of money, so I think it’s a little bit wrong saying that they are not doing what the fans expect them to do, then I don’t know what the real reason is behind everything.”
There has indeed been an increase in player spending since the appointment of manager Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman receiving support from the club’s owners.
However, considering United’s status as one of the wealthiest football clubs globally much more is expected from the current owners.
The Glazer family, who bought the club in 2005, has been hesitant to invest their own funds, contributing to the club’s current financial problems.

Under Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, clubs are allowed a maximum cumulative loss of £15 million over three years, but this limit could be extended to £105 million if there is additional financial support from the owners.
A major factor behind United’s limited budget during the summer transfer window was the financial constraints stemming from their adherence to FFP regulations. Without these limitations, the club could have potentially signed another centre-back.
In our opinion, Ibrahimovic’s statement suggesting that the Glazers have invested in the club is inaccurate. They have not contributed any funds since assuming ownership.
Furthermore, there have been no visible indications of progress in the renovation of Old Trafford. Although plans were initially discussed in early 2022, the Glazers are currently holding out for minority investment before proceeding with the redevelopment.
