Gary Neville has always been vocal about the issues at Manchester United and has also praised the club when needed. With Dean Henderson signing a long-term contract with United, and the club has now a headache regarding the goalkeeping situation. In his recent interview with Sky Sports Neville has talked about the goalkeeping situation and the No.1 spot at Manchester United.
It was earlier reported that Dean Henderson signed a long-term with United, keeping him at the club till 2025. The contract and the wages also meant that he would stay at United next season fighting for the No.1 spot. But in his recent talk, Neville said: “The idea that Dean Henderson will just come in and replace David de Gea as No.1 goalkeeper at Manchester United straight away – it won’t happen, I can guarantee it won’t happen.”
Neville also emphasized on the fact that goalkeepers need time and trust of the manager to perform at their best. He added “You have to fix your No.1, go with him and even if there’s a mistake, you stick with him. Once you take De Gea out of the team and put Henderson in, you may as well forget about De Gea.”
Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must be careful of the goalkeeping situation and must take keen notice of it.
