Manchester United boast some of the biggest names in world football and Ole Gunnar Solskajer has made the most of the talent at his disposal with the Red Devils enjoying a sublime season this time around.
With a number of notable additions last summer and the reintegration of certain fringe first-teamers, Solskajer has made Manchester United a force to reckon with once again in European club football.
Let us take a look at five of the highest-paid Manchester United stars in 2021-
1. David de Gea- £290,000-a-week
The Spanish shot-stopper is the one commanding the biggest pay package at Old Trafford as his status as a ‘leader from the back’ in the United lineup increases more than ever amongst a new bunch of recruits.
De Gea, however, seems to have found his once-assured spot between the sticks under threat of late with Dean Henderson having seemingly displaced the Spaniard from the first-choice goalkeeping role for Solskajer’s side.
2. Paul Pogba- £290,000-a-week
Another one of Solskajer’s trusted options in the Old Trafford camp is the World Cup-winning France international Paul Pogba who has found his feet in recent times as United’s midfield maestro.
Despite some persistent injury issues this season, Pogba has been a force to reckon with while commanding the Red Devils’ brand of attacking football from the centre of the park.
What remains to be seen is whether Pogba would be a fixture on this list come next seasons as rumours intensify of his exit in the summer window with Real Madrid and Juventus keeping tabs on the highly-rated Frenchman.
3. Anthony Martial- £250,000-a-week
Another of France’s biggest talents joins Pogba on the list as Anthony Martial occupies the third spot in the highest-paid rankings at Old Trafford just below his compatriot.
Martial’s resurgence in front of the goal under Solskajer was rewarded with the forward being handed a new lucrative deal back in 2019 which extended his stay in the Manchester United shirt until the summer of 2024.
The former AS Monaco man, however, stands displaced for now as the central striking force in the United setup with Edinson Cavani establishing first-team regular credentials on the back of an inspiring spell in the attacking half for his new colours.
4.Marcus Rashford- £200,000-a-week
Rashford arguably remains one of the biggest names in England’s sporting culture over the past few years with his on-field as well as off-field activities generating wide-field exposure to the general public.
The United attacker’s efforts towards ensuring social equality amongst the children in the country have earned him massive goodwill and commendations with the 23-year-old Rashford being honoured with the MBE last year.
With a contract that runs until 2023, Rashford is the fourth highest-paid star at Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s disposal.
5.Harry Maguire- £189,904-a-week
Round up the rankings is the skipper Harry Maguire who boasts of a £189,904-a-week contract which he signed when he arrived at Old Trafford in the big-money move from Leicester City in 2019.
Despite constant struggles into his new life in Manchester, the England international has developed into a more composed figure at the back for the Red Devils and has shown some brilliant streak of form in regular intervals over the course of the ongoing campaign.
