As reported by Daily Mail, Barcelona is said to have begun negotiations with Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani over a January transfer to the Camp Nou.
Cavani is a long-term target for the Catalan club as they look to add a centre-forward during the winter transfer window, with reports that Sergio Aguero is poised to retire after experiencing chest problems last month.
Due to Barcelona’s financial difficulties, there is little room for a big-money move in the transfer market, and the Spanish club is hoping to secure a low-cost deal for Cavani.
Due to fitness difficulties and the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford, the 34-year-old has only made two league starts this season, and his current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

Cavani joined United on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020, scoring 17 goals in all competitions in his first season in the Premier League. Barcelona will offer Cavani a fee of less than €1 million, which the Red Devils are hesitant to part with due to their domestic and European commitments.
Basel attacker Artur Cabral is also being considered by the club’s recruitment squad, however, finances for the Brazilian would almost certainly have to come from player sales.
Since going to Switzerland from Palmeiras, the 23-year-old has a productive record, scoring 60 goals in just 95 games across all competitions.
