According to Spanish publication Todo Fichajes, Manchester United are interested in signing Marco Asensio as the Real Madrid star’s contract will be up by next summer.
The Spanish attacker has been in and out of the starting XI for Los Blancos. The 26-year-old had signed for Madrid from Mallorca in 2015 and has went on to feature in 237 games. However, his recent injury issues have affected his position in the starting XI.
Carlo Ancelotti has preferred to play Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo at the flanks with Benzema leading the line. The versatile player can fit in as a right-winger, left-winger or a central midfielder.
The major concern surrounding the player’s future is the player’s availability. Although, the player would be ready for a move, Real Madrid will plan to hand him a new contract rather than letting him leave for free.
United were linked with the Spaniard this summer but couldn’t plan a move due to lack of time. Barcelona could pose a threat to United’s plans but Asensio would prefer to move to Old Trafford rather than switching to a fierce rival.
The Red Devils have a lot of attacking options and it remains to be seen whether they would still prefer to sign a winger.
