Former Crystal Palace boss Simon Jordan has claimed that United will never return to the top of the premier league with Solskjaer in charge of United.
Manchester United suffered a shock 1-2 loss at home on Saturday against Roy Hodgson’s Eagles with Daniel James scoring the only goal for United late in the game.
He said: “It’s Manchester United… we’ve watched all of their games because there is more focus on them. If you look at the manner in which they are playing, I’m sorry because I know fans will start yelling and screaming, but up to 60 minutes against Chelsea they were getting bossed. Chelsea was the better side in that game by a long way and nobody could see anybody other than Chelsea scoring goals. Now conventional wisdom was defied, Sam Allardyce got made to look a fool on the touchline as we did sitting here and Chelsea capitulated. But anyone else other than Chelsea on that day, of that sort of perceived stature, wouldn’t have capitulated and I don’t think United would have won that game.”
Solskjaer has been under pressure since the end of last season after some poor performances and has come under heavy criticism for his handling of the penalty situation at United, Pogba missed a penalty against Wolves with Solskjaer not nominating a designated a penalty taker. Solskjaer will be under pressure when United travel to Southampton on Saturday and will know that only a win will ease the pressure on him. Solskjaer was also criticized for not signing a striker to replace Romelu Lukaku and instead of placing his faith on 17-year-old academy graduate Mason Greenwood.
