Bruno Fernandes has added the Player of the Month award for March for Manchester United to his list of accolades since arriving at the club in the January transfer window.
The Portuguese midfielder who joined United for €55m from Sporting CP in the January transfer window has made an excellent brilliant start to his Red Devils career and was named the Premier League Player of the Month in February. Ever since then, Fernandes has scored his second Premier League goal for the club when United drew 1-1 with Everton and contributed assists in the 2-0 win against fierce rivals Manchester City and then the 5-0 Europa League thrashing of Austrian outfit LASK. The 25-year-old playmaker has now netted three goals in nine games for United and fended off competition from teammates Odion Ighalo, Harry Maguire and Fred to be selected as Player of the Month by supporters for March.
Fernandes’ goal against Everton at Goodison Park was his first for the club from open play and he was in helping his team earn a point at Merseyside. Having already made himself close to the Old Trafford faithful, Fernandes further cemented his place as a fan favourite with another superb display against Manchester City, playing in Anthony Martial for United’s opening goal after half an hour. It was a Fernandes pass that also teed up Ighalo to score a memorable goal against LASK, and before the coronavirus pandemic caused the season to be put on hold the talismanic midfielder was the catalyst to turn United’s turbulent season around.
