Manchester United FC are set to get busy in this summer transfer window, not just because of recruits but also because of sales. Woodward had reportedly drawn a six-man list to be put up on sale this window to fund the recruits. It is now being reported that Diogo Dalot has surprisingly attracted the attentions of Barcelona and the club might bid for him.
The young full-back has found minutes hard to come by as United have trusted Wan Bisakka for most of the season. Even when Wan Bissaka was injured, Solskjaer chose to give a chance to Fosu-Mensah rather than Dalot. The youngster is low on confidence and will want to seek a move where he gates some game time.
Dalot was Jose Mourinho’s recruit and the former United manager had gone on to say Dalot will become the next Neville. But there are no such signs shown by the Portuguese full-back yet even after three years of his United career. He was brought from Porto for about £19million in 2018 and was tipped to become a future Red Devils star.
But three years and only 34 appearances later, Dalot might be looking at the exit door at Manchester United. With the pandemic market, United are looking to add to their transfer budget by selling some players. Woodward and Solskjaer are keen on selling the deadwood out of the club and Dalot might just be sacrificed at Old Trafford.
Surprisingly Barcelona have made an enquiry about the Portuguese full-back’s situation at United and are keen to take him to Spain. The Blaugrana are without a proper right-back other than Nelson Semedo, who hasn’t done enough to impress the board. Dalot might relish the chance to play with the likes of Messi and Greizmann and might move on from United.
If the reports are to be believed then the Portuguese might fetch the Red Devils £15 to £20m. The 21-year old still has a lot of time on his side and can rapidly improve in a suitable environment. With the transfer market officially open now, we are expected to get even more rumours, and only time will tell which will be true.
