Manchester United left-back Alex Telles is hopeful of making a return from his injury against West Ham United on Thursday. The versatile defender suffered a mild ankle injury during pre-season training and didn’t make any appearance till now.
United will look to host West Ham at Old Trafford as they look to defeat them again in the EFL Cup third round. Alex Telles who has mostly been a backup option to Luke Shaw has played to a limited extent last season.
He had admitted that even though he didn’t contribute much, he was happy with his first season with Manchester United.
The Brazilian had made just 24 appearances last season and not all of them were the first-team spots. Although he will be trying to play as many games as possible, Alex Telles is in good shape and has revealed that he will be closing in on a return.

While talking with the club’s official website, Alex Telles said: “I feel good. Things happen in football. I wasn’t very happy about that [the injury] but I took advantage of the situation by working harder. I feel better than before, I feel better prepared and stronger, physically and mentally. I’m much better and I’m thrilled to be back. Whenever I get the chance to play, I’ll give everything for Manchester United to win the lot. Preparations will be the same. It’s in front of our home fans at Old Trafford but I think the game will be very tough. It’ll be a difficult match but we’re ready.”
Alex Telles has brought the better of Luke Shaw since the time he stepped into the team. United’s current squad has a lot of depth and Telles may fancy his chances of playing more games to increase Solksjaer’s faith in him.
The next game will be played on Thursday and many players will be eager to get a chance to play in the starting XI.
