Angel Gomes was one of the best young players in the Manchester United first-team squad after graduation from the Manchester United academy. Gomes did very well in the Premier League 2 for the Manchester United u-23 team but could never break into the main squad. In his recent interview with The Independent, Angel Gomes has finally spoken about the situations that made him leave Manchester United.
It was earlier reported that Angel Gomes left Manchester United this summer and joined French club Lille for free. Gomes is now playing for Boavista on-loan from Lille, and is doing very well in the Portuguese club. Angel Gomes left United this summer, but hadn’t yet revealed the reason for his departure from Old Trafford, but has finally done so recently.
In his recent interview, Angel Gomes said: “It’s such a special club but I just wanted to be able to play and express myself. I was offered a great contract, I had all my family and friends around me, but I decided that I was willing to sacrifice that to pursue a different path. I could have stayed and gone out on loan but it just felt like I needed a fresh start.”
Gomes is one of the best players for the Boavista side now and is currently spreading his magic in Portugal. He surely has all the talent and technique to make it big in football but his physicality was a major factor for him not breaking into the first-team. Only time will tell if Gomes goes on to become of the best or just becomes of the many.
