Anthony Elanga set to undergo his medical at Nottingham Forest

As revealed by Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse, Nottingham Forest are on the verge of signing Manchester United’s academy graduate Anthony Elanga as the player is scheduled to undergo a medical examination before completing a £15 million transfer.

The Swedish star faced a challenging 2022/23 season at Man United, during which he had limited opportunities to showcase his skills.

Under manager Erik ten Hag, he managed to play slightly over 700 minutes of first-team football. The 21-year-old star is expected to leave the club, with Forest being the favoured destination.

Forest have successfully beaten other clubs such as Everton, West Ham United, and Marseille in the race to sign the talented winger.

Elanga’s decision to play under manager Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest was crucial in sealing the deal. The club is also in discussions to acquire goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Elanga had a frustrating 2022/23 season with United, as he found limited opportunities, and was even excluded from the bench for 10 of the last 13 Premier League games.

Given the emergence of other young talents like Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo at United, Elanga has made the wise choice to seek regular playing time elsewhere, making his move to Nottingham Forest a reasonable decision.

Despite having the opportunity to join clubs like West Ham and Marseille, who will be competing in European football next season, Elanga was drawn to Forest due to manager Steve Cooper’s playing style.

While Man United would have ideally wanted more than £15 million for the Swedish winger, any fee they recoup is still a boost for manager Erik ten Hag, who is looking to make additional signings during the summer transfer window.

The Dutch boss is interested in acquiring a new striker, a centre-back and a midfielder. However, to make these signings possible, it is crucial for the club to make player sales.
