Antony has chosen his Manchester United debut as his favorite Premier League game thus far while wearing a Reds jersey.
The £85 million deadline-day signing scored the game’s first goal in a 3-1 victory over Arsenal in September, handing the league leaders their first league loss of the year.
In his next three Premier League appearances, Antony scored goals against Manchester City and Everton. Since then, the winger has yet to score another Premier League goal, but he has scored four more times in other competitions.
The Brazilian won the Carabao Cup at Wembley last month and scored the game-winning goal against Barcelona in the Europa League last-16 match.
But his Premier League debut in particular is the most memorable one for the Brazilian. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Antony was asked about his favorite game in a United shirt, and he said:
“I think my first. It was like living a dream. Making his Manchester debut, at Old Trafford, in a derby against Arsenal, and still scoring a goal? It is not possible to be more perfect.”
Last summer, Anthony became the second-most expensive player in United history, his signing costing £4 million less than Paul Pogba’s £89 million transfer from Juventus in 2016. Though he has yet to totally persuade everyone with his talent, the 23-year-old has pleased many since his arrival.
The young attacker has been dropped on a few occasions this season and has gone through a number of dry spells. Yet, his flashes of brilliance have won over United supporters, and Erik ten Hag has shown confidence in his winger, whom he previously worked with at Ajax.
Along with Casemiro, he has been selected for Brazil’s squad for this week’s international matches.
