Borussia Dortmund consider re-signing United winger Jadon Sancho

According to the German publication, The Bild, German giants Borussia Dortmund are considering re-signing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho this summer.

The English player has struggled to meet the expectations that accompanied his £72 million transfer from Germany in 2021. He has fallen short of justifying his hefty price tag with only nine goals scored in 55 games for the Red Devils.

During the season, the player had a three-month period of training away from the first-team squad. However, he showed signs of improvement towards the end of the Premier League campaign.

Nevertheless, he failed to make an impact in United’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester City and was eventually substituted for Alejandro Garnacho.

Recent reports suggest that manager Erik ten Hag has grown increasingly frustrated with the player, leading to speculation about his future at the club.

It is rumoured that United is now considering the signing of another left-winger, further raising doubts about Sancho’s position in the team.

The 23-year-old made a name for himself as one of Europe’s most promising young talents during his time at Dortmund. German outlet Bild has now reported the possibility of a return to the German club this summer.

According to reports, there have been no direct negotiations yet, but Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Khel, has been in regular contact with Sancho’s representatives at Project Elite Group.

It is mentioned that United would be willing to accept a loss and sell Sancho for £55 million. However, Dortmund may only consider a loan deal as they are not in a financial position to pay the full fee.

However, it is unclear whether the English winger is ready to leave Old Trafford this summer. Despite showing glimpses of his potential at United, we believe that Sancho’s time at Manchester may be limited.

In the 2022-23 season, the attacker contributed seven goals and three assists in 41 appearances. Sancho needs to improve his form if he wants to win the manager’s trust next season.
