Crystal Palace considering a move for Man United shot-stopper Dean Henderson

According to the Sun, Crystal Palace are reportedly considering a surprising move to secure the services of Manchester United’s goalkeeper, Dean Henderson.

Despite being part of the matchday squads for the first two Premier League games of the season, Henderson is expected to depart from the club.

Nottingham Forest were initially interested in signing him earlier in the summer but refrained from conducting a medical that might worsen his thigh injury.

Since then, Matt Turner has joined their squad from Arsenal, leaving uncertainty about whether they will rekindle their pursuit of Henderson.

Now, The Sun reports that Crystal Palace have entered the race to secure Henderson’s signature. Man United are open to the idea of a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Palace have room for two loan signings and could bring in Henderson to compete for the top goalkeeper position alongside fellow United graduate Sam Johnstone, particularly with Vicente Guaita expected to depart.

Henderson had a successful loan spell with Nottingham Forest last season until he suffered a thigh injury in January.

Originally, it was expected that he would return after a six-week recovery period, but he eventually required surgery, which kept him out of action for the final four months of the season.

The 26-year-old had previously expressed confidence in returning to Forest on a permanent basis, but the situation may have shifted following Turner’s strong performances in goal.

In our opinion, Palace could be a suitable destination for Henderson if he doesn’t plan to stay at United. While Sam Johnstone has taken over as the primary goalkeeper for Palace, they might prioritize Henderson due to his proven track record in the Premier League with Sheffield United and Forest.

Ideally, United would have preferred to sell him outright, but they may need to consider a loan-to-buy deal. They could be hoping for a bidding war in the coming days.
