Daniel James responds to comparisons with Wales captain Gareth Bale

Manchester United star attacker Daniel James revealed that comparisons branding him as ‘the next Gareth Bale’ are just “plain silly”. The 22-year-old James made the move to Old Trafford from Championship side Swansea last summer and has already made 27 league appearances for the Red Devils ever since, scoring three goals and assisting six more, though he has not displayed that same form he once showed in August.

Nevertheless, James continues to make inroads into the Wales international set up as his position and his nationality have drawn up comparisons with Real Madrid ace Gareth Bale.

While speaking to Sky Sports, the young Welsh winger lifted the lid on playing alongside Bale for Wales and the six-time capped star described the experience as ‘amazing’, he said, “To play with him for Wales is obviously amazing, He’s such a great guy. He’s great with the youngsters and around the place. James further explained that what Bale has done in his career with Real Madrid to win the Champions League on numerous occasions as well as developing into an attacker from a left-back position on the pitch has made him idolize the captain of the Wales team, “What he’s done in his career, how he went from a left-back to a left midfielder, to win the Champions League – it’s just amazing what he’s done.” Although James has been renowned for his pace and skill, the United star still revealed that he looks up to Bale, but the comparisons between the Madrid star were just silly because he has a long way to go in his career, “He’s one of those players you look up to, but I think being compared to him is a bit silly.”
