According to a report by The Athletic, West Ham United’s manager, David Moyes is interested in signing Manchester United’s defender Harry Maguire. However, he is uncertain about the possibility of completing a deal this summer.
Last season, the England international faced challenges in securing regular playing time under manager Erik ten Hag, making only 16 starts for United across all competitions.
Speculation has arisen regarding his potential departure from the club, but the Red Devils have made it clear that they would only entertain offers if their £40 million valuation is met.
West Ham made an initial bid of £20 million for the 30-year-old centre-back, which was unsuccessful, leaving manager Moyes uncertain about whether the club will continue to pursue the signing of Maguire.
Maguire currently earns £190,000 per week, making his wages relatively high. At West Ham, Lucas Paqueta holds the position of the highest-paid player, earning £150,000 per week.

Due to Maguire’s high wages and uncertainty about his willingness to make the move, the Hammers are hesitant about pursuing the signing of the player.
Last season, the English defender initially partnered with Lisandro Martinez in central defence but lost his spot to Raphael Varane after poor performances against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.
Throughout the campaign, Maguire only managed to make six more starts in the Premier League. When Varane and Martinez were injured, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw were favoured over him.
Recently, Ten Hag decided to remove Maguire from the captaincy, indicating that he is no longer considered a potential starter.
Despite this, United are not likely to sell him at a low price. If the centre-back does depart, the manager will certainly push the club to find a suitable replacement.

United have their sights on Monaco’s Axel Disasi and Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard as potential options.
Currently, it appears more probable that Maguire will stay at the club for the upcoming season unless West Ham or another team comes close to meeting United’s valuation for the defender.
