Dayot Upamecano wont be going to Manchester United

Manchester United have been linked to Dayot Upamecano for a long time now as they need a solid defensive partnership at the back.

The defensive issues at the back are one of the main reasons why Manchester United have been so inconsistent and unable to get any silverware since Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has joined as the first team manager.

Dayot Upamecano has been on the radar of some of the top teams in England and Europe. The young lad has a lot of potential and can be developed into a world-class centre-back one day.

Despite Manchester United’s urgent need for a strong centre-back who can keep things tight at the back Christian Falk (head of Football at BILD) claims that Manchester United is out of the race to sign Dayot Upamecano.

There is still a chance that rivals Chelsea or Liverpool may land him but this seems highly unlikely given the finances that such a transfer would demand.

However Manchester United would be looking to find a permanent solution to this issue and some other prospects could be targeted as well.

The club will certainly have to splash some money in the next transfer window or could even make a move for the veteran Sergio Ramos as things seem to get difficult between Real Madrid and the Spain international.

An out and out defensive midfielder, such as Declan Rice are other things on the list for Manchester United but this seems like a big blow and hopefully, they can get someone in to make things a bit more stable at the back.
