Diogo Dalot makes a swift return to Manchester United’s Carrington training complex

As reported by the Manchester Evening News’ Samuel Lackhurst, Portuguese right-back Diogo Dalot made a swift return to Manchester United’s Carrington training complex on Friday morning.

Only six days have passed since Portugal was eliminated by Morocco in the quarterfinals, and Dalot has decided not to take an extended break.

Following an injury he sustained at the World Cup, the 23-year-old star’s hamstring will be examined by United’s medical team today.

The tenacious right back is back three days earlier than the other United players who were kicked out of the World Cup in the eighth round. The remaining players are expected to be back on Monday.

Prior to being substituted at the Al Thumama Stadium, the 23-year-old had gone more than two years without an injury. He had started 20 of United’s first 21 games of the current campaign. Only because of his suspension did Dalot miss the victory at Fulham on November 13.

Dalot’s contract extension is set to be activated by United, keeping him committed to the team through 2024. The Portuguese player is anticipated to receive a better offer from the Red Devils.

Following his season-long loan with AC Milan in 2020–21, Dalot has drawn interest from Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, and Roma. Spanish giants Barcelona are also keeping a close eye on him. Last week, Dalot was mentioned by United boss Erik ten Hag as one of the World Cup performers that stood out to him.

Portugal played five games in Qatar, three of which Dalot started. He provided assists in Portugal’s loss against South Korea in the group stage and also in the crushing victory over Switzerland in the round of 16 match.

The fans will hope that the Portuguese star will continue his fine form as the club enters a crucial stage of the season.
