Edinson Cavani is expected to leave Manchester United at the end of the current season, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Uruguayan forward’s contract at Old Trafford expires in six months, and he wants to move to La Liga. Fabrizio Romano has said that a free transfer could be on the cards.
Edinson Cavani signed a one-year contract with Manchester United on a free transfer from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in 2020. The 34-year-old striker had a fantastic first season at Old Trafford, scoring 17 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions.
This encouraged United to extend his contract for another year, until the summer of 2022.
Important to clarify that Cavani will be focused on Man Utd until end of the season. He's set to try a new experience as free agent in June – but also had chance to leave in January & wanted to stay after direct talk with Rangnick 🔴 #MUFC

Due to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer of 2021, the former PSG star’s playing time has been decreased. Cavani has only made 15 appearances across all competitions and has only scored twice.

Edinson Cavani, who is 34 years old, may have one last chance to play in one of Europe’s big leagues, with La Liga being his preferred destination. It was also rumoured that he would return to South America via the River Plate. Fabrizio Romano, on the other hand, has ruled out this particular move.
Also with Edinson Cavani, Manchester United could lose star midfielder Paul Pogba on a free transfer at the end of the season. The Red Devils are yet to finalize a contract deal with the 28-year-old French midfielder.
Jesse Lingard is also poised to leave Old Trafford after his contract expires at the end of the current season. As a result, Manchester United will almost certainly try to strengthen their midfield in the summer.
If Edinson Cavani is really going to leave the club, then we hope that he scores a lot of goals in the coming months and helps the club to qualify for the UCL next season.
