Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has voiced his opinion to Facundo Pellistri regarding the club he wants the winger to join this season.
There are reports that a South American team is interested in making a last-minute attempt to secure his services.
The Uruguayan talent joined United in October 2020 for an initial fee of £9 million. However, his progress has been somewhat overshadowed by the arrival of Amad Diallo at a similar time. As a result, the 21-year-old has had limited opportunities to prove his worth to the Red Devils.
Over the nearly three years since joining United, Pellistri has made only 10 appearances for the club. Given the tough competition for wide attacking positions at Old Trafford, he has been sent on loan to gain more experience and game time elsewhere.
The former Penarol youngster has undergone two loan spells in La Liga with Alaves. However, the 2022/23 season did not provide as many opportunities as he would have desired. As a result, he is now preparing to leave United once again.

Although Pellistri is not at the top of the pecking order under Ten Hag is determined to ensure that the winger makes the most suitable move for his career, while also considering the long-term benefits for the club.
Football is a dynamic sport, and situations can change rapidly. For Pellistri, finding the right loan move could be crucial in his development and could potentially alter his standing at United.
According to Dutch journalist Tijmen van Wissing (speaking to Voetbalpraat Podcast), Eredivisie Club FC Twente are actively pursuing Pellistri, and Ten Hag believes that such a move could be highly beneficial for the player’s growth and progress.
There are reports in South America suggesting that Boca Juniors, the Argentine giants, are also in pursuit of the talented winger and are prepared to make a move for him.
Considering Pellistri’s Uruguayan heritage, it appears that he may be more inclined towards making a move to Boca Juniors.
Ten Hag holds the belief that a move to FC Twente would be more advantageous for Pellistri’s development. Twente, the gaffer’s former club, is in need of a winger, and the former Penarol attacker’s arrival could offer him regular opportunities in the first team.

Additionally, the Dutch boss believes that the youngster’s chances of succeeding at Old Trafford will be better served by staying in Europe.
Twente had a competitive season last year, narrowly missing out on qualifying for European competition, and they are expected to be strong contenders again this season.
