As revealed by the club’s official website, Erik Ten Hag was named the Premier League Manager of the Month for the month of September.
The Manchester United boss beat Antonio Conte of Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil to the award, which was awarded following votes from experts and supporters.
The gaffer has become the second Man United manager since the Sir Alex Ferguson era to win this Award in the Premier League. Former United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also won the honour in February 2019.
His victory also makes it a sweet double for the Red Devils as Marcus Rashford was voted the Premier League Player of the Month.
After leaving Ajax, Erik Ten Hag’s tenure at Manchester United did not start out well. He lost his first two competitive games in the league. However, the Dutch tactician had a successful September, as United defeated Leicester City 1-0 away from home and table-toppers Arsenal 3-1.
Ten Hag is being appreciated as he gradually but surely adapts the Manchester United players to his system. With four victories from six games, United is in fifth place in the Premier League, six points behind league-leading Arsenal, who have played one extra league game.
