Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has requested the hierarchy to pursue the signing of Bayern Munich’s versatile defender Benjamin Pavard, as per L’Equipe.
Following an agreement in principle for the transfer of Harry Maguire to West Ham United, the Red Devils are now in search of a possible replacement for him.
Reports indicate that Jean-Clair Todibo was recently highlighted as United’s primary target. However, L’Equipe asserts that Erik ten Hag has urged the club to sign Bayern defender Pavard.
As a next step, the English giants need to make an initial offer to the Bundesliga club in the upcoming days. They could reach an agreement if they spend €30 million.
Man United have experienced a successful transfer window thus far, making notable signings such as Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund based on Ten Hag’s recommendations.

It’s likely that the club’s hierarchy will maintain a similar approach throughout the remainder of the summer transfer window.
If the preference of the Dutch manager remains focused on Pavard, the club will certainly pursue the necessary steps to secure his signature.
The French versatile defender could potentially serve as an effective improvement over Maguire in the central defensive position. He is excellent in ground and aerial duels as well as effective ball control. An added asset is his ability to function adeptly as a right-back. While Pavard has expressed his desire to play as a central defender, his versatility grants him more options.

We believe that the club is favouring the signing of Todibo due to his younger age and higher growth potential. However, the ultimate choice rests on the manager’s preference.
Should Ten Hag hold confidence in Pavard’s capabilities, the board should proceed with securing his services.
