Everton is taking decisive action to secure the future of their talented defender, Jarrad Branthwaite, amidst ongoing interest from Manchester United.
The club has proposed a significant contract upgrade for Branthwaite to counter Manchester United’s pursuit, ensuring he remains a key player at Goodison Park.
Despite Manchester United’s keen interest in Branthwaite, their offer fell short of Everton’s £70 million valuation.
United had agreed on personal terms with Branthwaite, reportedly a lucrative £160,000 per week, but only proposed £40 million plus add-ons.
This discrepancy has led Everton to reject the offer, leaving Branthwaite poised to continue his career at Everton on his current £40,000-a-week salary.
Everton are now set to offer a vastly enhanced contract to Branthwaite after recently threatened by Manchester United to move in and buy him under their noses, along with other interested clubs.
This comes after the Red Devils already spent £52 million for Lille’s Leny Yoro and is negotiating a fee of £40 million with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt.

Thus, Branthwaite seems set to stay for the Toffees for the long foreseeable future as such high-profile acquisitions are already completed.
Branthwaite, who remains undeterred by the transfer speculation, is focused on his development and the upcoming season.
In a statement on Everton’s website, he shared his commitment to improving and applying the lessons learned from previous seasons into this new season.
Jarrad Branthwaite reflected on his past season, emphasizing how playing regularly helped him gain valuable experience.
“A strong defensive record boosts our confidence and contributes significantly to achieving our goals”.
On the other hand, Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has confirmed that the club is pursuing Matthijs de Ligt.

Ten Hag, who previously managed De Ligt at Ajax, discussed the ongoing transfer negotiations.
“We are still waiting to see if De Ligt will join us,” Ten Hag mentioned in a very recent interview with Algemeen Dagblad.
” The presence of Dutch players is a coincidence and I fully support all the decisions made by the club.”
As the new season approaches, Everton’s commitment to Branthwaite and Manchester United’s continued transfer activity once again highlight the dynamic nature of this season’s transfer market.
