Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo received huge praise from Everton manager Frank Lampard after the legendary striker scored his 700th club career goal.
After replacing Anthony Martial in the first half due to injury, the 37-year-old forward proved his doubters wrong on Sunday by scoring the game-winning goal to help United win by a 2-1 scoreline.
Erik ten Hag praised the striker for scoring a historic goal which will further boost his confidence. However, the gaffer was not the only one who heaped praise on the veteran forward.

Everton manager Frank Lampard lauded Ronaldo in his post-game press conference after he surpassed the historic milestone of 700 goals. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the former Chelsea midfielder said:
“He keeps scoring goals as he’s done and to rack the numbers up that he’s racked up, that’s just become normal – abnormal numbers have become normal year after year. Looking after himself in the right way, I don’t know him particularly well, but you can do nothing but admire those numbers – they’re amazing.”
“When he was on 699, I wanted him to score in the Europa League the other night because you could feel what might come at the weekend, and then he comes on because Martial has got a problem – sometimes those things happen in football. But in the cold light of day, I’ll give him huge credit for that, it’s amazing.”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is obviously a major favourite of the Chelsea veteran, and in 2009, he displayed incredible honesty to save Ronaldo from receiving a red card.
At Old Trafford, goals from Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney, and Dimitar Berbatov helped Manchester United defeat Chelsea 3-0.
Although the Reds’ afternoon was rather uneventful, things could have gone wrong when Ronaldo, who was already made a poor, studs-up challenge on Lampard.
After a free kick was awarded, it appeared as though referee Howard Webb would hand a red card to Ronaldo, but Lampard intervened and diffused the situation.
It’s a touch of class by the Everton manager to praise the legendary striker even if he scored a match-winning goal against his side.
