Gary Neville has slammed Manchester United players for their poor performance against Brentford on Sunday.
The former defender called the match an ‘absolute robbery‘ as the Red Devils were able to grab a point in the end.
Erik ten Hag’s side were non-existent in the first half at the GTech Stadium. Brentford had 31 shots in the game but were not lethal enough to convert their chances.
Meanwhile, the visitors became proactive in the second half via close-range shots.
However, the hosts were still the better team and could have emerged victorious had they punished United at the start.
Gary Neville believes that our players were not playing up to the standards and that he witnessed a shocking game. While talking to Sky Sports, the 49-year-old said:
“I watched them last night and couldn’t believe really what I was watching. I thought they would put a bit of pressure on Tottenham and Villa in the run-in. It’s difficult to play that badly.”
“It was a horrible performance to the point where when Mason Mount scored, I think we may have had to start a petition to give Brentford two points back.”
“It was an absolute robbery. But then Brentford scored. I can’t explain that performance – I’ve no idea where it came from.”
“Very worrying that you can go to that level of low. You know you can play badly in football, you know you sometimes don’t feel quite right.”
United are behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and their chances of landing a UCL spot are getting slimer with every passing day. Their only hope lies in the FA Cup now.
However, their schedule won’t make things easier for them. The Red Devils face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their next PL clash on Thursday before facing Liverpool at the weekend.

They need to make sure they defeat Coventry Country and move to the finals of the FA Cup where they will face either Chelsea or Manchester City at Wembley.
Winning a silverware will bring little positivity to their disastrous season. Their performance against Brentford can’t be justified and if they repeat the same mistakes then it would be hard for them to grab vital victories in the next few games.
Ten Hag’s side attacking plans were a total failure and questions will be asked whether this team is capable enough to lead them to a title next season.
