“Here We Go”- United midfielder Fred all set to join Turkish side Fenerbahce

Manchester United midfielder Fred is close to finalising a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, following an agreement between the two clubs regarding the transfer fee.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has stated that United will be receiving a sum of €15 million for the transfer, which includes additional payments, in exchange for the Brazilian international player.

Fred has reached an agreement on personal terms with the Super Lig side and is now set to proceed with his medical test.

Having joined the Red Devils from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 for a transfer fee of €60 million, Fred’s contract is now in its last year. This situation presents United with a final chance to generate some funds by selling him.

Fred, having made more than 200 appearances for the 14-times English champions scoring 14 goals and providing 19 assists, has experienced a fluctuating journey during his five years with the club.

His performance has been inconsistent, with highs and lows during his tenure, and he had a particularly strong season last year, contributing to 12 goals.

Manager Erik ten Hag viewed Fred as a valuable substitute, utilising his energy in the later stages of matches.

However, the South American’s desire for regular playtime contrasts with the Dutch manager’s inability to guarantee it. The arrival of Mason Mount at Old Trafford earlier in the summer hinted at Fred’s potential departure.

At 30 years old, he is past his prime, making United’s decision to allow his departure a sensible one. Although the €15 million fee may appear modest, accepting it is a reasonable choice, as receiving something is better than nothing.
