How did Manchester United pull off Marcel Sabitzer signing in just 12 hours

Manchester United only got in touch with Bayern Munich the day before the deadline to finalise the signing of Marcel Sabitzer.

At 12:10 a.m., United announced the signing of Sabitzer from Bayern Munich on a season-long loan after submitting a deal sheet prior to the 11 p.m. deadline on Tuesday. The 28-year-old, who is under contract with Bayern until 2025, doesn’t have a buy option in his loan deal with United.

United is certain that they have acquired the best attacking midfielder available on a short-term basis in Austrian international Sabitzer. The decision to sign the former Leipzig midfielder was made in order to fill in for Christian Eriksen’s absence until late April.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, United moved quickly to sign a replacement in the final 24 hours of the transfer window, after Eriksen’s scan results were declared.

According to sources, Sabitzer was thrilled about the possibility of playing at Old Trafford and expressed an instant desire to join United. The United scouting staff was aware of Sabitzer’s dynamic play and adaptability in a range of attacking situations from his seven years with the fiercely competitive RB Leipzig.

United are pleased with their winter transfer window after they signed Wout Weghorst as a swift replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Dutch striker’s signing was completed on January 13.

At the beginning of the month, Jack Butland was signed from Crystal Palace in response to Newcastle’s recall of Martin Dubravka.
