Juventus are looking to include French midfielder Adrien Rabiot in a swap deal for Manchester United FC player Paul Pogba. The Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was widely tipped to reach out to Juventus regarding a possible move for Rabiot in the summer, hoping to add a gifted player to the Red Devil’s midfield which has sparked since the signing of Bruno Fernandes earlier this year.
The 25-year old Rabiot has not had an impressive first season at reigning Serie A champions Juventus, having signed from PSG last season for a sum of £27million. With the player unable to settle in Turin, Juventus are looking to offload the midfielder, who has not scored or assisted once in all of his appearances for the club this season. Moreover, previous reports emerging from Italy had suggested that the Old Lady were considering cutting Rabiot’s wages by £7million, owing to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Italian giants are hoping to use Rabiot as an essential part of a swap deal involving ex-Juventus star Paul Pogba, who has missed out on a significant portion of the current Premier League season due to injury issues. The French midfielder has not had the best of spells for Manchester United FC, after signing for the English club for the second time in his career in 2016.
Pogba has only shown glimpses of his terrific Juventus performances while playing for the Red Devils. However, frequent injuries and his agent Mino Raiola’s sour relationship with the Manchester United FC board, cast uncertainty over his future at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils spent an excessive amount in the region of £90million to lure Pogba from Juventus in 2016, having let go of their once-academy graduate in 2012. As a result, the English club will be looking towards recouping the fee paid for the French international, if the player chooses to leave The Red Devils.
However, due to the financial downside that the coronavirus pandemic has brought into the football world, it remains to be seen whether Juventus will be willing to shell out a considerable sum to sign their former star.
