Manchester United FC finished the Premier League season on a high last time around as they finished third in the league table. Anthony Martial finished the season as the club’s highest scorer but missed a few chances in United’s last game of the season. This has caused Rene Meulensteen to say that the Red Devils need to sign Harry Kane to challenge for the Premier League title.
Rene Meulensteen is a former Manchester United coach and was a long-time assistant to the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. Meulensteen believes that Manchester United always used to have top-class strikers in the team. And the current crop of players needs Harry Kane who would be a guarantee of goals to come because of his superb goalscoring instincts.
In his recent talk with talkSPORT, he said “What is vitally important is that United need to have a really good start to the season, so they don’t lose any ground and they are in there and they can keep competing. That will grow the belief.” He also added that: “For instance, if they were able to get Kane – which I don’t think they can – but if they could get Kane, I would say ‘yes, they will compete for the title next year.”
Manchester United have signed Van de Beek and are expected to sign some other players including Jadon Sancho. But despite all the signings the Red Devils are not expected to challenge for the title.
