Lille defender Leny Yoro is travelling to Manchester to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms as Manchester United close in on signing him.
The problem for United was that it has been public knowledge for a long time that Real Madrid are the preferred choice of the defender.
However, Yoro is said to softening his stance on a move to Manchester.
Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool were also said to be interested in the centre back but the French club reportedly dropped out of the race for him a few days ago.
Sources have told that “Liverpool have pulled the plug on their interest in Leny Yoro”.

“The Premier League giants had shortlisted the Lille centre-back as a key target but their stance has changed after learning the player wants to join Real Madrid.”
It was reported about a month ago that Liverpool had made a bid for the Lille defender but that it was rejected.
It was relayed here last night that Madrid would make another bid to try to wrestle their way back into pole position for the defender but it is yet to be seen whether they will get anywhere near the €62 million United have put on the table.
That is according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who reports on Wednesday that while the 18-year-old’s original preference was to join Real Madrid, he has warmed to the idea of moving to United and the latest developments are a big step forward, although there remains work to be done.
It was reported last week that United and Lille had agreed a £52m fee, with the Ligue 1 club looking to cash in on their prized asset now as opposed to losing him for free next summer when his contract is up.
United have been heavily linked with several centre backs this summer, notably Jarrad Branthwaite and Matthijs de Ligt, but it appears they are now nearing a deal for their primary defensive target.
