Mads Timm: Ronaldo was bullied when he first joined Man United

Ex-Manchester United talent Mads Timm has revealed that even Cristiano Ronaldo was bullied at the club when he initially joined them from Sporting Lisbon back in 2003.

Timm wrote in his book, ‘Red Devil’, as reported by the Sun, that Ronaldo was ‘bullied a lot and the reason being his weird hairstyle and acrobatic training which mostly irritated his teammates.

Timm went through six years at Manchester United, the forward joined as a promising player yet his career never took off and he played in his country of Denmark after his release from the club.

As he was blasting on the scene at Sporting Lisbon and when he at first showed up at Manchester, Ronaldo had long hairs which had some blondie features, the United squad weren’t too impressed by that.

Mads Timm said: “He was quite extraordinary as a footballer and as a person. Like me, he was bullied when he came to the club. With his hair – which he soon got clipped – and with his almost acrobatic attempt to impress the coaches. He could stand and do 10-15 stepovers before he tried to dribble past the opponent. ‘Pass now, just pass, dammit,’ shouted Gary Neville and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer constantly to him when we had reserve team matches together. The special thing about Cristiano Ronaldo was that he immediately took the fight against the hierarchy. And he won it. He was completely indifferent to the rest of his teammates. He gave no room for others. It was me, me, me. Cristiano Ronaldo. CR7.”

The future five-time Ballon d’Or winner quickly changed to the trendy spiky hairstyle after being bullied by his teammates, nowadays he keeps a pretty much clean hairstyle.

Some Man United fans will be amazed to hear that even Ronaldo was bullied by his teammates in the initial phases of his career at Old Trafford, yet they’ll be pleased to realize that the superstar didn’t allow the comments to get to him as he immediately turned into the man in Manchester.
